Description about the painting:
This painting is Betty G. Miller, the Mother of De'VIA. She was one of the co-founders of the Spectrum, art colony for Deaf artists in Texas in the 1970s. De'VIA movement was first established in 1989 at the Deaf Way I, in Washington, DC. She was one of the eight Deaf artists who signed the Manifesto. She passed away this morning, as of December 3, 2012. She was born in 1934.
